METHODIST CHURCHES.
The Methodists of the city had a special day yesterday, in the ce;e oration ot the Centenary ot Methodism in this dominion, and an added interest was given by the presence ol the Rev. Alex. M'Callum (the president of the Australian Churcli), who conducted three services during the day. In the morning, Trinity Cnurcti was well tilled with a representative congregation, amongst which were many Methodists now advanced in years, but who have done valiant service in the interests of the church in this city. The preacher based an impressive address on Fsaim 121, verse i, ids address being illustrated with apt incidents and experiences in his own career. In the afternoon the Dundas Street Church was crowded, when the Rev. M. A. Rugby Rratt presided and conducted part of the service. The Rev. Mr M’Callum gave an address on the remarkable incidents in the world’s history where all has appeared gloomy and dark, and God has used the seemingly disastrous happenings for the world’s good and betterment. In the evening the Octagon Hall was crowded, and Rev. Mr M'Cailum delivered a powerful ev /ngedistio address on “They Were Astonished at His Doctrine,” and the service was enjpyod by all present. Solos wore rendered at all the services by lending soloists, which added greatly to tlie success of the gatherings.
