The United States Lawn Tennis Association announces (fiat Tilden "ill not defend his title of world’s champion at Wimbledon next summer. The reason assigned is tho heavy expense involved in sending a leading American player abroad and the effect of sneb a trip on the player. The association added that Tilden was willing to go, but in view of the sharp Davis Cup contest anticipated in America, and the fact that Tilden returned in bad condition from last year's trip to England, it was considered best that he should remain in the United States.—A. and!
