LAND OF GREAT OPPORTUNITIES. HANDICAPPED BY DEAR LABOUR. Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, March 20. Sir W. L. AUardyce, ex-Governor of Tasmania, has arrived. He said that Tasmania was a land of great opportunities, but needed population. A great handicap was the nigh cost of labour for clearing heavily-timbered land awaiting development. This would cost so much that the value of land was swallowed up in the cost of the clearing.
