THE PACIFIC TREATY
SENATE DEBATE CONTINUED. THE CONCLUDING STAGES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. WASHINGTON, March 22. (Received March 23, at 9.5 p.m.) The debate on the Pacific Treaty was continued to-day in the Senate, the speeches being limited to one hoar in order to reach a vote on Friday. Senator Walsh declared that he would vote against the Treaty, because it did not include all possible parties to a dispute; hence it ■was not judicial in its alliance, which would result in the creation of other alliances to counteract it. It alienated friendly powers like Russia and China and extended American protection which other parties were apt to need in return for protection which America should furnish herself. Senator Pomerenee expressed disappointment that further progress had not been made towards forming an association of nations, which President Harding promised. He said he would support the Treaty.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
