ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

NORTHERN CLUB ANNUAL. The thirty-fifth annual meeting of the Northern Association Football Club was held in Dormer’s Tea Rooms, North-East, Valley, last night, Mr H. J. Duncan presiding over a large attendance of members and intending members. The Chairman congratulated the club members on the success they ted attained, during the year. The first eleven had done well, but had lost ground in the final matches. The other grades had also done fairly well, winning higher positions than during the previous season. He urged old members to come forward and assist the younger men. Mr Duncan referred to the proposed visit of the New South Wales team this eeason, and hoped the Northern Club would do its best for the visitors and co-operate with the other Dunedin clubs. The report was adopted as read. In discussing the balance sheet, Mr T. Ruddiman said that it showed a debit balance of over £5, which was considerably above that of the previous year. This was largely due to the fact that there were a number of outstanding subscriptions. Mr C. Ingram said that this was the fault of the committee, which catered for football “on credit.” If the members did not pay their subscriptions they should not be allowed to play.—(Hear, hear.), Several suggestions were made with a view to making up this deficit. The matter of electing club patrons was left in the hands of the incoming committee, which was authorised to consider nominations. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr ,H. J. Duncan (re-elected); 23 vice-presidents; secretary, Mr J. Mackle; treasurer, Mr J. Dryden; General Committee—Messrs G. Simpson, IV. Singleton, A. Coates, C. Ingram, T. Kuddiman, W. Brundell; Selection Committee —Messrs A. Stewart, H. Gormack; club captain, Mr J. Dryden; delegates to O.P.A.—Messrs T. Ruddiman and J. Dryden; delegate to Sports’ Association. Mr J. Mackle; schools’ delegate, Mr S. Jervis; auditor, Messrs T. Ruddiman and R. M'Culloch. Twelve new players were nominated for membership. It was decided to hold training nights <m Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and that the first practice match be held on April 1. Votes of thanks to the 0.F.A., tho retiring officers, the chairman, and the press, concluded the. meeting.
