TARIFF NEGOTIATIONS. NEW ZEALAND’S PROPOSALS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, March 22. No definite conclusion has yet been reached by the Tariff Board in connection with the proposals submitted by the New Zealand Minister of Customs. It is understood that a mutual exchange of the British preferential tariffs of both countries will be arranged if an agreement is reached on the items specified by New Zealand. GERMAN -AU STR ALI AN LINE. FORMER AGENTS DECLINE TO ACT. MELBOURNE, March 22. The former agents of the German-Aus-tralian Line have been approached by the line to accept the agency again, but they declined, stating that they could not forget the misery which Germany had brought upon the world. ANZAC DAY SERVICES. MELBOURNE, March 22. Mr Hughes announced that the Government is issuing a public invitation to all the churches in Australia to hold memorial services on the morning of Anzac Day. The conference of the Chambers of Commerce passed a resolution in favour of the cessation of Government control of the sugar industry, and an amendment of the Federal Arbitration Act to limit the court’s jurisdiction to inter-state industries. It is officially announced that the smelting works of the Sulphide Corporation at Cockle Creek will close at the end of April, in consequence of the decreased output of lead concentrates at Broken Hill.
