ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

The annual meeting of the Southern Association Football Club was held in the Bungalow Tea Rooms, St. Kilda, last evening. Mr J A. Milburn (vice-president) presided over a splendid attendance of players and supporters. Apologies were received from Mr T. K. Sidey, M.P., Mr A. Br Usherwood, and Mr A. D. Hudson.

Tho Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, touched on the various matters mentioned therein. He congratulated the club on placing seven teams in the field last year, and notwithstanding many ups and downs, all engagements had been kept. The Second Grade team were to be congratulated on winning tiie Second Grade cup for the second year in succession, and as it was very likely that some of these players would be in the first team this season, it behoved the others not to get down-hearted, but to carry on the good work. Mr Scott spoke in regard to the matter of finance, and mentioned although the club had only a small credit balance there was a substantial amount outstanding in. unpaid subscriptions, and in fairness to the secretary it was up to these members to come along with their subscriptions. He thought mention should be made of the amount of work the club had put in on the improvements at Culling Park. Tiie election of officers resulted as follows; Patron, Mr T. K. Hill; General Committee-Messra Hill, M’Evoy, E. Feiguson, Jones, and Donaldson; delegates to 0.F.A., Mr L. H. Scott, Mr W. Trevathan; Selection Committee—Messrs M’Evoy, Hill, Scott, Jones, Hudson, Taylor; club captain, Mr D. Hill. An invitation was received from the secretary of the Mount Zion Club to visit Kaitangata and play a match with them on lias ter Monday, the proceeds to be given to tho Southern Club towards payment of the cost of improvements at Culling Park.—lt was unanimously decided to accept the invitation. The opening day Was set down for April 1, at the Beach Grounds, and practice nights would be held on Tuesday and Thursday of each week. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Kerr, last year’s secretary, who had put in a considerable amount of work for the club. Mr Kerr has been transferred to Wellington. The question of allocating the medals donated to the club was left to the incoming committee to arrange. The medals for the Musselburgh School team would be presented at a function to be arranged later on.
