MUSIC IN CHURCHES. TO THE EDITOR. Sir.—ln some of our city congregations the organists are now giving special musical selections after the evening services and I wish to suggest to the authorities that there should bo a definite break between the close of the services and the commencement of the musical organ selections, thus allowing those who wish to retire to do so. Last evening I attended a service where the organ selection started so soon after the benediction thnt_ no one could retire without being conspicuous, and the fact of the minister remaining in his seat gave the impression that the service had not ended. Quite a number expressed annoyance at being detained and others I saw impatiently looking at their watches. For the sake of those who are not musical—and this applies to the majority of all congregations—l would like tho authorities to give people an opportunity of going out when they desire to.—l am, etc., Orotchet.
