Taylor, farmer of the district, was carting stakes, having with him an employee named Welter Wright, a young man of Invercargill, and a native of Waimatuo, and his own son, three years of age. _ By some means or other, not yet explained, the dray was precipitated into the Wyndham River at a spot where there is a deep hole. Mr Taylor had the presence of mind to throw the boy out on to the bank, but he and Wright went down with the team. Mr Taylor managed to gel out, but Wright did nbt com© to the surface, his body probably being pinned down by the dray. Two of the horses were drowned the third being rescued by Mr Taylor arid some neighbours. The body was recovered the same day.
