r A WHITE SOUTH AFRICA. FAVOURED BY THE STRIKERS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, CAPETOWN, January 30. A mass meeting of strikers in Johannesburg carried a resolution in favour of taking action with the object of defeating the Government and substituting one which is calculated to protect the interests of a white South Africa. A conference is to be arranged with the Opposition parties. The meeting also instructed all the strike committees to take the necessary steps against free labour.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
STRIKERS SUPPORT NATIONALISTS
THE SITUATION GRAVE.
CAPETOWN, January 30. It is believed that the strike leaders ■will support political action in co-opera-tion with the Nationalists. The strikers are being organised into commandos .in certain ai’eas.
A considerable number of men have returned to work in the coal mines. Thev have been warned by the strikers, but hitherto there has been no pulling out.— A. and N.Z. Gable.
