RVDDEF- BREAKS IK A BTORU. (Pn United Pbess Association.) ■- AUCKLAND, January 30. The schooner Malahat, bound from Newcastle to the Hawaiian Islands, put in here early this morning disabled. She encountered a hurricane on January 22, and the jib and mizzen foresail were split to ribbons. Next day the rudder broke while the vessel Was rolling In a heavy swell. [The Malahat, a five-masted wooden auxiliary schooner of 1650 tons gross register, was built by the Oameron-Genoa Shipbuilders (Limited) at Victoria, British Columbia. She is owned by the Canada Steam Ship Line (Limited), of Victoria, B.C. Her dimensions are: Length 245 ft Tin, breadth 43ft Bin, and depth 21ft.]
