NEW CONSTITUTION ACCEPTED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. CAPETOWN. January 27. A meeting of elected members of the Legislative Council of Rhodesia, held at Salisbury, approved of a resolution accepting a now Constitution for Southern Rhodesia.—A. and N,Z. Cable. [A cablegram published 10 days ago stated that the draft Constitution of Southern Rhodesia provided for a Legislature <,f two Houses. With certain reservations protecting native! rights, provision was made that when a referendum was taken on the question of establishing responsible self-gov-ernment the alternative of incorporation in the Union of Strath Africa would be placed before the people. The government of Southern Rhodesia hitherto has been conducted by an executive council consisting of the Administrator and three members’ apr pointed by the British South Africa Company,- and a Legislative Council, which includes 12 members elected by the registered voters vof Mashonaland. Southern Rhodesia includes the two provinces of Mataboleland and Mashonaland, between the northern boundary of the Transvaal on the south and the Zambesi' on the north. The European population totals 38,000.]
