WAR RELIEF FUND

(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 27. At a meeting of the executive of the War Relief Association yesterday the New Zealand Society for the Acknowledgment of Debt to the British Seamen’s Fund submitted the annual report of the fund. The Advisory Board sent a letter requesting tho association to act as trustees of tho fund, investigating its local cases under the same system cf reciprocity as exists between tho Dominion War Relief Societies. Mr Macintosh stated that Mr' Tripp and himself had conferred with the body in regard to its suggestion. They had really a largo sum of money (£180,000), and did not know what to do with it. klr Macintosh said 1 he thought tho association could help the fund by seeking people and investigating claims from their own records. The bo«iv had seemed pleased with the idea, and had requested the’ speaker and Mr Tripp to act ns trustees, which they had consented to do. Tho whole of the work was to be dealt with by a committee. Mr Aldridge (R.S.A.): Wo have spent money from our fund for their cause already. Another- member pointed out that seven applications had been received since Thursday morning. The Chairman said he thought they were doing a good service, and that no on© would be better able to deal with tho matter than the association.
