Mrs Cody, wife of “Buffalo Bill,” has died at the town of Cody, named after her husband, in Wyoming. Douglas) advised that Lord Jellicoe was prepared to unveil the soldiers’ memorial during Carnival Week. It was decided to fix this event for Sunday, February 12, if suitable to his Excellency. The Ceremonial Committee submitted a draft programme, which included selections by the Kaikorai Band, Soldiers’ Choir, Bugler Napier; while the speakers are to bo hia Excellency, Bishop Richards, Mr W. C. Allnutt (the head master). The treasurer reported the first progress payment of .-6200 to Messrs Bingham, the contractors, and that the balance in hand was £300; but that fully £IOO more was required to meet the cost of the name tablet on which are permanently engraved the names of 110 who made the supreme sacrifice, and the cost of the new gateway. It was decided to make an urgent appeal' to the public at the unveiling ceremony for suen a liberal response as will enable Ibe committee to unveil the arch free of debt. Arrangements arc being made to secure the attendance of the officers of the visiting warships, which will be moat fitting on this memorable occasion.
