The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held yesterday, and attended by Messrs Edgar C. Hazlett (president, in the chair), R., A. S. Cantrell, James Birth®, James Boss, James Gow, G. H. Macßwan, H. Turner, T, Scott, J. W. Blair, J. Mhcandrcrw. W. TurnbnU, J. Nimmo, E. A. Ewing, H. C. Campbell, E. F. Dathie, T. J, Gawn, A. Johnson, T. T. Ritchie. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. O. M’Kellar, G-_R. Ritchie, •G. Black, W. Gardiner, H. Price, J. Begg, A. Fleming, H. Driver, F. Freeman, and J. F. Herbert. The Grounds Committee reported- on improve men t« proposed to be carried out at Tahuna Park.—-On the motion of Mr R. A. Ewing, seconded by Mr H. C. Campbell, the report was approved. _ On the motion of Mr E. F. Duthie, seconded by Mr B. A. Ewing, the Finance Committee’s report was approved and accounts amounting to £77 8s 6d were passed for payment. The Chairman reported on the meeting that he had called in response to a request from the Minister of Agriculture for the purpose of considering the general pooling scheme for the handling of and dealing with the frozen meat trade.—The president a action was approved. . ~ Professor Wing*, of Cornell XJutveraity, How York State, wrote thantangthc .society for the courtesy and hospitality extended to him on hie visit. , , Mr A. Chamberlain, of Christchurch, wrote expressing thanks . for the consideration shown him at the time of the show, and he enclosed a donation to the funds. The committee sptent some time in compiling a list of Otago men competent to act as judges of cattle, sheep, and horeos, such list being asked for by the Council of Agriculture, which is the federating body in Nbw Zealand. ... It was resolved that the factory cheese ind fruit sections of the Winter Show bo revised by the respective sub-committees, and that advance lists be sent out at an early date. It was resolved that the ram and ewe fair be held'on Tuesday, March 23, os suggested by the Dunedin stock agents. Mr E. Jack, secretary of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture, advised that the Amusement Bill, which had passed all stages, applied to agricultural societies.—lt was decided that the secretary should be communicated with' in connection with the matter. Messrs Towan Bros. ('Cromwell) and Mr '{, B. Tennent were elected members of the society. On the motion of the President, the following resolution was carried: —"That the members of this society wish to express their sincere sympathy with Mr H. V. Pulton in his recent sad bereavement.”
