The United Starr-Bowkett Building Society members’ meeting hold last evening at the secretary’s office, was well attendedThe business consisted of the disposal of £IOOO by ballot in Nos. 8 and 5 groups of the society, and resulted as follows; The 76th appropriation in No. 3 group was drawn by cluster 160, held by one member. The 17th appropriation in No. 5 group was drawn by cluster 375, held by one member. Mr E. A. Bosevear (chairman of directors), who presided, stated that the society died advanced £228,034 4s lOd to members, .providing over 800 homos. WAIRARAPA STUD RAM AND EWE SALE. The Wairarapa stud breeders’ annual sale was held at Solway on January 19, when a catalogue of 65 Romney ewes, 141 Romney rams, 31 Lincoln rams, and four Southdown

rams ware submitted. There wm ft good attendance of interested spectators, but Tory few buyers, with the result that the bulk of the offering was passed through the ring without obtaining a bid. Only selected rams of best quality were competed for at prices considerably below those obtained last year. The Hawke’s Bay ram fair opened to-day in very wet weather. For the Romneys submitted prices ranged from one guinea to 9gs, th« top price. Good lines averaged from four to 7ga. Bidding was good for better sorts. NEW ZEALAND EXPORTS. (Pnu Ukitbo prkss AssociATton.) WELLINGTON, January 26, For the quarter ended December 31, the exports were valued at £8,362,100, compared with £11,256,379 fox the corresponding period of 1920. \ Of- the total value of last quarters shipments £6,802,825 was sent to the United Kingdom. The value of the exports from the Auckland district for the past quarter was £2,967,941; Wellington, £1,113,214; Wanganui, £690,797; New Plymouth, £681,879; Patea, £456,778; Napier, £377,563; Lyttelton, £165,038; Dunedin, £465,446; Invercargill, £398,889.
