ROWING
OTAGO v. SOUTHLAND. The annual contest for the Edmond Shield between representative fours of Otago and ■ Southland will take place at the Invercargill regatta on Saturday next. Otago will be represented by the Port Chalmers Club’s crew—namely, ; J. Nelson (stroke), H. Connor (3), J. Colthorpe (2), and A. Glengarry (bow). This crew has been consistently training for some time, and rowing enthusiasts are hopeful of the shield once more being brought to Dunedin. Since the race was inaugurated Southland have won it on 14 occasions to Otago’s three. Southland at present holds the cup.
