' • ! , Loyal Oamani Lodge is leaving nothing " undone to promote the onuse of Oddfellow- ' ship in North Otago. Meetings are well 1 attended, and run on correct lines, new, members being initiated at almost every 1 meeting, due largely; to the energies of P.G. J. Nevvson, -who is a in this department yAn official visit to Dun--1 edin is being kept steadily in view,, and 1 will eventuate at the first favourable op--1 portunity.' ~ ' There was an attendance of about 40 ' members at the annual summoned meet--1 ing of Loyal Tapanui, Lodge, held on 1 December 22, the muster being the largest ! fpr many years. N.G. Bro.-Jas. Hay pre--1 sided, supported by fy, full complement of officers. This was the final meeting con--1 nected with the shield r competition, for which the N.G. announced that the lodge 1 had gained full points. Two-new mem--1 berg were"' initiated. and one other proposed for membership. The election -of officers saw keen competition, and,in some instances several ballots. The, following officers were installed:—N.G., Bro. PhilSim; V.G., Bro. J. Whitely; E.S., Bro. Ivan Jenkins; Warden. l ßro. John Kirk'; Guardian, Bro. W. Kirk. \ P.G.'s Bros. R< A. Rodger and Jos. JSskvale/ were'' reappoipted auditors. / The adjourned annual summoned meeting of , Loyal Dalton Lodge, Balclutha, was held on January • 10, P.G. Bro. ,R. Culbert presiding. P.G. Bro. H. G. West, of Loyal King Edward Lodge, London, and lately of, Dunedin, was officially welcomed, and returned 'thanks. *6me new member was initiated. A targe amount of cor--41 respondenoe was dealt with and ordinary routine business was transacted. The officers for the ensuing term, N.G. Bro. H Holgate, V.G. Bro. A. E. Russell, E.S. Bro: H. Mitchell, Warden Bro.' A. Anderson, and' the Guardian were duly installed by P.P.G.M. Bro. C. J. Wood? assisted by P.G. Bro. H. G. W.est, -Tt was decided to :plac©. the name 'of P.G. Bro. W. Logic on'the merit' board and award him an emblematical certificate. , The first meeting for the year of Loyal Albion was "held on January 12, N.G. Bro. "' Downes presiding. The lodge -was in mourning owing to the demise of P.P.G.M. Bro. C. W. Smith, who. at the time of his death, was in his 77th year. He joined the order in Bristol. England, in 1863, and', became attached to Loyal Albion by_ clearance in 1877, 1 and retained an active interest in its working until a little over a year ago, when he removed to ftore.
