ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A SEAMAN DROWNED. (Feb United Peess Association - .) I , ' , . AUCKLAND, January 6. Alfred Warren, able Seaman, was drowned last night, by falling from the, gangway of the steamer Huia at Onehunga, Warren and another seaman both fell fr6m the' gangway into a safety not beneath, Warren rolling thence into. the water. Sustaining a severe blow on the head, he sank immediately, and did not rise again. The deceased was single, 36 years of age, and formerly a boatswain on the sailing ship Dartford. His last shore address was 73 Vivian street, Wellington.
MOTOR CYCLE CAPSIZES.
A CHILD KILLED. , ASHBURTON, January 6. _ Through a motor cycle. and side choir capsizing near Methven yesterday evening, Norman Reid Kingston, aged 19 months, was killed. The father, Stanley Kingston, was riding the cycle, the child sitting on its mother’s knee in the chair. The father and mother received minor injuries. A telegram was received by Superintendent M'Grath from Sergeant Kidd, of Lawrence, yesterday stating that Eva Ruth Patterson, aged 15, daughter of a Publio Works Department, employee. Mr Wm. Patterson, was drowned at Beaumont at 11.50 a.m,. An inquest will be held, probably to-day. , ■
