SUTTEE AND CHEESE. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report having reoedved the* following cablegram from Xxmdou, dated December 30; —“Batter price® are, irregular, but there is a slightly better demand. Danish, £7 14a to £7 18a J Australian tmsalted, finest, £5 14a to £5 18s; salted. £5 to £5 8s; secondary* £4 10s to £4 18a; inferior, £3 16s to £4 4fl; Now Zealand finest, £6 to £6 10s; secondary, £5 10s to £5 15a. Government is neglected, and prices ore nominal, , “ Cheese irregular, but the demand is improving. Wool brokers’ _ Association "(Messrs Dalgety .and Co., National Mortgage, N.Z. Loan and Mercantile .Agency Co., Otago Farmers’ Co-op. Association, Donald Reid and Co., '’Wright, Stephenson, and Co.) report:— A sheepekin sale was held yesterday (Thursday), when ' large catalogues were offered. There was a small attendance of buyers. Competition was poor, and prices showed a decline from those ruling at the- last sale hold on December 6. Quotations: Merino, 4|d to SJd; halfbred, s£d to 63d; fine crossbred, 4Jd to 5Jd; crossbred, 3|d to 4d. Half wool: Merino, 3d to ijd; halfbred, 4Jd to BJd; crossbred, 2Jd to BJd- Quarter wool: Halfbred, Ijd to 3gd; crossbred, IJfd to 2Jd. Dead skins; Halfbred. 2|d to 4jd; hogget, 3d to 4d.
