LONDON, October 23. (Received Oct. 24, at 5.5 p.m.) The Hungarian Legation states that the Ministers of Great Powers have presented a Note to the Hungarian Government asking it to remove ex-Emperor Karl from Hungary without bloodshed, emphasising that this is necessary in order to safeguard the peace of Europe. The Government replied that it -was taking every step to induce ex-Emperor Karl to leave. It is stated that the Government had sufficient force to prevent ex-Emperor Karl's entry into Budapest. It is supposed that the ex-Emperor has a few thousand troops. A Budapest telegram reports that the Karlists have arrived at a point four miles from the Capital, where they had a clash with the Government troops whom Admiral Horthy is personally leading. Fighting is in progress. The Morning Post's Vienna correspondent states that the ex-Emperor Karl decided on Saturday night to march on Budapest and seize supreme power. (Received Oct. 24, at 9-15 p.m.) A pilot engine preceding the Royal train reached Budapest this morning, but withdrew when an attack wae made upon it. A battle has beeti proceeding since morning with the ex-Emperor Karl's troops, numbering 4000 soldiers, besides volunteers. The ex-Emperor and his wife are reported to be in the open country 75 miles irom Budapest. The Government has informed the exEmperor Karl that his presence in Buda"pest is impossible. (Received o<?t. 24, at 11.20 p.m.) The diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Chronicle states that Great Britain is determined that ex-Emperor Karl shall never again reign in Hungary, and neither shall he return to Switzerland.
