The Union Steam Ship Company’s steamer Manuka, which arrived at Wellington to-day, is' to lay up here. Sixty New Zealanders will sign off to-morrow, and 40 Australians on Monday. The latter will be conveyed to Sydney ■in the Tahiti. The Rama is due hero this morning from Wellington. She will sail the same day for Wellington and New Plymouth. The Sussex will follow the Otarama on the loading berth at Montreal for New Zealand and Australia. She is timed to clear about the jpiddle of October. * TKe Port Stephen is expected to arrive at Wellington to-day with a cargo of 6624 tons Of coal for the Hallway Department. This will he discharged at Auckland, and the vessel will leave afterwards for Australia. NEW ZEALAND-ATTSTRALIA ■5 SERVICES. A sligfit alteration >in the steamship service between New Zealand and Australia will be inaugurated "bn October 1. The Paloona, then, instead of alternating her itinerary by Dunedin and Wellington, will . proceed direct to Wellington from Melbourne, and call' at Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff, maintaining that route always. _ The Maheno, Manuka, and Eiverjna will maintain theeervioe between Auckland and Wellington and Sydney. They will leave the latter port for Auckland and Wellington alternately, and will* observe as nearly as possible the same intervals of sailing, by which a ten days’ service between each, port will be maintained. The Manuka, which arrived at Wellington yesterday, will not sail for Sydney until October 6. RECORD CARGO OF WOOL. The largest British sailer, the barque Rowa, under the command of Captain R. Kennedy, left her berth at Lyttelton on Monday in tow of the tug Lyttelton, at 12.25 p.m. iAfter the Rewa had been towed about 10 miles, she wos let go in a light nor’-nor’-east wind, bound for London direct, via Cape Horn. The vessel’s cargo of wool is a record for a sailer leaving a New Zealand port. She loaded 11,798 bales at Wellington and 3576 at Lyttelton: a total of 11,374 bales. In addition she has 400 casks of tallow and a quantity of sundqjes._ She should arrive at her destination about ’ Christmas.
