LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, September 12. At the mixed wool sale an average selection was offered. Competition (especially Continental) was hardly equal to that of last week, but prices were fully maintained. A Now Zealand lot made up to 33Jd and averaged S3d. In Bradford tops the market shows a good tone, with inquiry for spot lots, but there was little forward business. Quotations are hardening.— A. and N.Z. Cable. PIGIRON AND STEEL INGOTS. LONDON, September 12. (Received Sept. 18, at 7.25 p.m.) The production of pigiron and steel ingots last month showed a marked increase compared with_ July. Forty-six blast furnaces were operating, compared with 15 at the end of July.—Reuter. LONDON METAL MARKET. LONDON, September 12. (Received Sept. 13, at 11 p.m.) Copper: Spot, £67 6s 3d; forward, £6B 7s 6d. Lead: Spot, £23 13s 6d; forward, £23. Spelter: Spot, £24 15s; forward, £25 10s. Tin: Spot, £156 2s 6d; forward*£lsß 7s 6d. Silver, 3s 3d per oz.—A. find N.Z. Cable. UNITED STARR-BOWKETT. Tho United Starr-Bowkett Building Society monthly meeting of directors was held last evening at Hugh Mitchell and Co.'s office. Mr E. A. Rosevear (chairman of directors), who presided, said he was pleased to state that No. 6 group would be started on the 26th inst., and that 641 shares had been allotted to date, indicating that this No. 6 group would fill up the 2000 shares required rapidly. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on October 27, and to hold ballots and sales irf Noe. 2, 3. 4, and 5 groups, and a ballot of £SOO in No. 6 group, totalling £4500.
