COSY DELL TENNIS CLUB

The annual general meeting of the Cosy Doll Tennis Club was held last evening in the Arcadia Tea-rooms. The president (Mr W. Burt) was in the chair, and there was a large attendance of members. The president, in a happy speech, briefly reviewed the report, and congratulated the club on a very successful past season. He ashed all members to take a keen interest in the club during the coming season, to endeavour to secure a fourth court, which was needed. The financial position was verv satisfactory. The annual report contained, inter alia, the following clauses;—The membership has been well maintained, there being now 95 members. A fourth court is badly needed. The club entered three teams in the association’s competitions one each in A, B. and C Grades. The A and B teams did fairly well, while the C team carried all before it, and won the banner in their section. The usual club tournaments were arranged, and, being well managed, were completed in fairly good time. Practically every nlnying member entered for the various events, and keen interest was maintained until the finals. Tlie winners »ro .as follows:—Ladies’ Singles, Miss F. White; Men’s Singles. Mr J. Msnsnn ; Ladies’ Doubles. M'spcg B"oad and White; Men's-Doubles. Messrs Harvey Brothers; Combined Doub'es. Mias H. Smith and Mr F.. Graham. The ladder for ladv and gentlemen members- was in use during the season, and many challenges were played. Several members of the club took part in the O.L.T. Association annual Easter tournament.. Mr L. Galbraith won the B Grade Handicap Singles, and Miss Harvey and Mr Harvey reached the semifinals in the Mixed Doub'es. Other members also d'd well in the'r events. The annual club dance was held in the Victoria Ha'l. which wap nrettilv decorated with the club’s colours. There was a large attendance. a capital programme, and a wellserved supper was provided, arc' those present voted the dance most successful. The finances of the chib arc in a vervso'm,] condition. We have to thank our president for his generous donation of 810 towards the dub’s funds, which is being used to repair and erect an extension of the present wire netting fence on tho bank side of the courts. It will be seen from the balance sheet that the balance owing on the original amount advanced has be"n paid off. This was made possible hv the issue of debentures to members, who subscribed liberally, the sum of £lOl bring raised. The balance required to pnv off the loan was taken from the club funds.

After tho meeting those nresent were entertained at supner l.v the president. During this function Vr Hu-,ter. on behalf ef the club, conveyed to Mr Burt their thanks for his keen interest and supnnrt, npd hoped his proposed trip to Sydney would restore him to health again. Mr Hunter’s remarks wore hearti'v applauded. The opening dav was fixed for Saturday, September 17.
