WAIKOUAITI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the Waikouaiti Borough Council' was held on Monday evening; present—the Mayor (Mr G-. J. L. Kerr), Crs Davis, Hallett, Williamson, Smith, and Thompson. ' A letter was received from the Borough of Mataura regarding waterworks material for sale, and it was left to the Mayor to examine the list of goods offered. The Westland County Council sent the following resolution of the council for consideration:—“That the council jAin with local bodies similarly affected in urging the Government to increase the proposed subsidy to hospital boards in regard to local contributions from contributing authorities to an amount in the region of the sum originally suggested! by the Health Department as equitable—namely, 80s fid in the £; and that steps bo taken to communicate with members of Parliament in the districts concerned to join the proposed request.”—lt was agreed that the resolution be approved. The Otago Hospital Board wrote pointing out that the board’s supplementary levy for 1920-21 woe payable in one sum on March, 24, 1921, and the general levy for 1921-22 in one sum’ on Juno 1, 1921, but in order to meet the convenience of the local authorities the board was prepared! to accept in monthly instalments.
