International court op ' JUSTICE. CANDIDATES TOR JUDGESHIPS. Press Association—By Telegraph—-Copyright. GENEVA, August 31. Thirty-five groups submitted to the League of Nations the names of candidates for judgeships in the International Court of Justice. The British candidates are Lords Finlay and Phillimore and Sir H. E. Richards. Those sent by the United States are Messrs Moore, Pound, Root, Brown, and Scott; South Africa, Mr J. H. Wessels; Canada, Sir Robert Borden and Mr C. J. Doherty.—A. and N.Z. Cable. 0 ALLOCATION OF EXPENDITURE. LONDON, August 31. On a revenue and population basis Canada is placed in the third group in allocating the League of Nations’ expenditure. Australia is in the fourth group. It is assumed that the latter may possibly desire to be placed on an equality with Canada by paying ’ the slight increase which the change would entail.—A. and N.Z. Cable. AUSTRALIA’S REPRESENTATIVE. SYDNEY, September 1. The League of Nations Union carried resolutions protesting against the appointment of Mr' Shepherd to the Geneva Conference.
