MORAY PLACE SCHOOL
An entertainment chiefly in aid of the funds of the Moray Place School Fife and Drum Band took place last evening in Sit. Paul’s Schoolroom, which was crowded by an enthusiastic audience. The Mayor /Mr .T. S. Douglas) occupied the chair, anci in his opening address congratulated the committee on the very fine attendance. Mr Douglas spoke particularly to the children, giving them sonic excellent and helpful advice and encouragement. Mr A. Miller, on behalf of the committee and school staff, thanked the Mayor for his attendance and the performers for their help. Mr Malcolm Stevenson (chairman of the committee) presided after the Mayor left. The programme contained well-rendered items by the school choir and songs by J. Ledgerwood. Mr A. Hudson, Miss Pearl O’Neill. Mrs M’Donald, and Mr Ray Butler. Humorous recitations were given by Mr E. Hendry, and very popular performers were Mr Paul Reno (talking comedy jugglist) Mr Gilchrist (the ventrilormist) with liis pal Jerry. and Piper Thomas Munro. Miss MTvor and Miss Beryl OcoTicr contributed pianoforte solos. Miss Doreen Wheeler a sword dance, lan and Hugh M’Arthur a double Irish jig, Jack Kilgour a sailor’s hornpipe, and Cecil Smith a side drum selection. The accompaniments were well played by Miss M. Ford.
