The military funeral of Matron Creal, of the Sydney Hospital, was one of the most impressive ever witnessed in Sydney. She performed war work in Egypt, and she was one of those who had the Royal Red Cross distinction conferred on her by the King; Harland and Wolff have begun the construction of a 30,000-ton steamer for the Holland-America Line for the New York service. She will be the biggest ship to be constructed since 1914. She will be named the Statendam.
Arrangements have been made to erect a memorial at Villcrs-Brctonneaux which will cost the commonwealth £IOO,OOO. Ten acres have already been purchased for the purpose. It is now reported that the site is entirely unsuitable and is inaccessible, being off the high road and invisible to ordinary passers-by. Mr Hughes proposes to inspect the site himself. Meanwhile all development work is delayed. Admiral Arthur Wilson ieft estate valued at £26,876.
