“HELIOTROPE.”

Great interest is being taken in “Heliotrope,” a Paramount super-attraction, which will commence this afternoon at the Empire Theatre for a four days’ season only. "Heliotrope” is a companion picture to “Humoresque,” and, like “Humoresque,” “Heliotrope” tells a deeply appealing story of a parent’s love for a child. In “Humoresque” it is the mother’s love for her son; in “Heliotrope” it is the‘father’s love for his daughter, and the thrilling sacrifice which he makes to ensure her happiness is the dominant theme. A convict serving if life sentence in the penitentiary secures his pardon in order to protect his daughter, who does not even know of his existence, from the evil designs of her blackmailing mother. How he keeps the girl’s romance pure, even at the cost of his own life, is unfolded in a picture that for sheer heart appeal and breathless thrill has seldom been approached. The Empire Orchestra has been greatly augmented for the occasion, and the overture will be Schubert’s “Rosainunde.” The box plan is at the Bristol. The management particularly wishes it to be known that this fine picture cannot bo screened after Tuesday evening.
