BLAME YOURSELF!
The "New Orleans Commercial Bulletin,” in reviewing the great work “Hernia and its Certain Cure,” by Dr Lawrence, a celebrated Rupture Specialist, quotes the author as follows:—“Dr L. says: ‘lt is true, indeed, that a hernia, if properly managed, is i.ot immediately dangerbus to the patient; .does _ not affect his health, nor materially diminish his enjoyments; but it is a source of constant danger, since violent exercise or sudden exertion may bring it from a perfectly innocent state into a condition which frequently proves fatal. The ordinary harmless nature of these swellings increases the patient’s risk by averting suspicion and leading him to neglect the means of prevention and security.’ ” Dr L. “hits the nail on the head.” He evidently has learned from his own experience that the, worst cases are the result of neglect at earlier stages of the malady; and the strange fact is that when patients do seek really expert treatment they almost invariably express the wish that” they had done so years before, and thus averted years of suffering and inconvenience. Too late they “blame" themselves”! But, “ never too late to mend!” The “Baton Rouge Advocate” says: “The newspapers of New Orleans teem with the great cures effected in hernia by the application and use of Dr Sherman’s method, which, soothing and alleviating tho pain of wearing a truss, affords besides medical virtues in closing and healing the opening caused by rupture. It is not simply the rupture produced by strain that is only dangerous; but, alas! ill-oonstructed, ill-devised, and ill-applied instruments that do tho mischief. From all we can gather, Dr Sherman not only alleviates the sufferer, but, wbat is far more consoling, is very successful in radically curing this curse of man.” If the reader is determined to persist in wearing ill-devised, ill-applied, and ill-constructed trusses, which increase the inconvenience of the rupture and prevent healing, he should “blame himself,” for by visiting Mr A, W. Martin, the solo controller of the Dr J. A. Sherman method of curing rupture, and the only pupil of Dr Sherman south of the lino, he can assure himself of instant relief. Mr A. W. Martin may _be consulted at his rooms, Samson’s Buildings, Dowling street, daily. 10 to 12 noon, 2 to 5 p.m.; Saturdays 10 to 12 noon. A booklet on rnnture and its treatment free to any sufferer. 12/3/21
