EXPERIMENTAL STATION RECOMMENDED.

PALMERSTON N., January 28. The committee appointed yesterday from the Science Congress and flaxmillers to consider the question of disease in flax mot subsequently, and made various recommendations, including the erection of a small flax experimental station, to be placed under charge of a skilled plant propagator, to ascertain if any phormium exist which are resistant to or immune from the yellow leaf disease; the minimum salary of the chief investigator to be £SOO per annum, with a guarantee of employment for five years. Further, a levy of 2s a ton on flax to bo collected through the grading department. The experimental station to be under the direction of a committee of the Flaxmillers’ Association.
