PRISONERS SENTENCED

In the Supremo Court, before Mr Justice faim, Edward Edgar Vigers was sentenced! to five years' imprisonment for assault on a woman, with intent, five years for assault and robbery, one year for tho theft of a car, and one year for attemptinc' to: commit_ a crime on a femafo, the tenna amounting to 12 years, to be cumulative. His Honor said that the prisoner was ani absotate ruffian, and it was a wonder that he did not kill or seriously injure soma of tho women ho triedi to run down in the motor car whjdh he had stolen. Robert Ibell, who appeared on a charge of_ forgery, was declared an habited uniniiiaL. David Murray Dkkson, on three charges of theft, was placed under ifce control of) tho Prisons Board for three years. Arthur Mortimer Matcher, formerly cat officer m tho Defence Department, was convicted of obtaining £23 from the department by false pretences. Ho was fined £10 restitution having boon made. *
