Victoria, to investigate the sugar beet industry, with a view to establishing a, rejinery in CanterflEmn f y i°£i . afTra f made a Profit of £16,000 fiom 1551 tons of sugar reiined. By growing beet, Mr Merrett says, New Zealand can become independent of outside supplies.
