q T,!-° Soclal of tiie Dunedin Returned Soldiers Association will bo held in tho Early Settlers Hall on Thursday, the 15th inst., and if it is up to the standard of the four preceding ones, everyone attending should receive a night's thorough enjoyment. The Social Committee of the association is to bo congratulated upon tho excellent manner in which these dances have been managed in the past. It is anticipated that there will be a largo attendance at this social, which will be tho last of the season. It is believed that a considerable number of war decorations awarded to officers and nurses nave not yet been received by them (says the Lyttelton Times). The current v Zealand Military Headquarters order requests all persons concerned to notify Headquarters at Wellington on the nonreceipt of their decorations, giving their lull name, rank at time of award, and the class of decoration. The same procedure should be adopted by the next-of-kin of deceased officers or nurses whose awards have not come to hand. All inquiries receivcd to date have been forwarded to tho Imperial authorities, with the request that the delivery of tho decorations be expedited. Motorists in general, and race-goers in particular, have been given warning by the Mayor of Riccartoii, Mr A. D. Ford that it is the intention of the Riccartoii Borough Council to regulate motor traffic through the borough in future on all race days. Tho Mayor said: "During the recent race week at Riccartoii course, I had a number of police on the road, and quito a number of motorists have received summonses for speeding. On this occasion uniformed police were on the road, but I will fot promise that uniformed men will always bo employed, aj I may arrange for plainclothes inspectors later. lam issuing this public warning now, as it is tho intention of this c ;unc:l to put down motor speeding, which is becoming too common, with everincrcasing dangers. When the next batch o r speeders to district racecourses come up I intend to press for heavy penalties." Councillors commended the Mayor's attitude, which was unanimously approved.
