"THE CLIMBERS." Clyde FitciT's play, "Tho Climbers," which will be shown at the Empire Theatre this afternoon for the first time, is said to be adaptablo to tho screen not only because of its -woaJth of dramn; but because of its message. It is fortified with plot and characterisation, and points a mora!. The production has been under the directorship of Tom Terries, and tho chief role is taken by Corinne 'Griffith, who brings a fragrant personality into her acting. She is intrigued into marriage by a' climber after wealth. She is ever climbing herself for happiness, while her relatives are constantly stepping upward for greater social recognition. The plot generates conflict and contrast, and moves forward with compact and spontaneous fction, pointing its moral and sending out on its journey rays of sentiment and shafts of genuine drama. The pathos is commingled with humour: It is reported to bo well staged, and is in itself a logical, human picture, and acted with understanding by the star and Percy Mar merit. Tn addition to this feature there is announced a li3t of sunporting films, including the latest Gazette's, a scenic, and a onmf-rljr. SoeciaUy-arrnnged music by the Empire Orchestra will bo rendered.
