SOLDIERS , GRAVES
WHAT THE COMMISSION IS DOING. Prasa Association.—By Telcgrapb-^Oopyrigbt. LONDON, April 16. (Received April 18, at 5.5 p.m.) Sir Thomas Mackenzie has visited the cemeteries in France and Belgium. Already 800 cemeteries have been placed under the control of the Imperial War Graves Commission. Sir Thomas Mackenzie states that such cemeteries as are completed are now beaartifuL, well kept, and planted with flowers. Nothwithstanding the magnitude of the work, and the dafficultdes involved favourable progress has been made. Some cemeteries where permanent work is not commenced are in moro or less disorder, mainly due to the fact that they came under shellfire after they were laid out.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
