ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

(Pkb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 5. Edward La.no, railway employee, was fatally injured while on fluty at the Lambton quay running yards, through being knocked down by an engine. The unfortunato man sustained severe abdominal injuries, and liad his right arm fractured. He was admitted to hospital in a hopeless condition, and died later. James Casey, single, 50 years old, who was living on a relative's farm at Ngaio, was found hanging in a cowshed. Casey was last seen alive between 6 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, when ho was in ,his normal state of health. Edith L. Bourne collapsed after bathing at Worker Bay yesterday. Sho had been in the water for some time, find had just reached the beach when she fell. Dr Lino was in attendance' immediately, but could only pronounce life to bo extinct. It is believed that the cause of death was heart failure. Notification was received by tho Invercargill police on Saturday of a motor boat accident that occurred at Pahia on Friday, and which resulted in the!death of Alfred Millwood (40) and Charles Ewajd Millar (50), both married men. A search'is being conducted, but so far the bodies have not been recovered. A man named Arthur "Foster. 51 years of age, whilo working at tho Moray Place School, met with a slight accident which necessitated his removal to the Hospital yesterday. His .injuries, particulars of which were not ascertainable, ore not in any degree serious.
