PETROL PRICES. NEW YORK, April 3. (Received April 5. at 8.45 p.m.) Petrol prices are unchanged.— A. and N-Z. Cubic. OAMARU MARKETS. (Wiom Oor Own Correspondent.) OAMARU, April 3. Except that ft little delay was occasioned on Monday morning by rain tbo previous evening, tho weather has been just about perfect for thrashing purposes during tho wools, and a lot of grain has been put through tho milk. With a continuance- of such favourable conditions it will not take long to complete tho work so far aa wheat is concerned, whilo very little of the oat crop, comparatively speaking, will bo carried over in stack for spring thrashing. Harvest operations have ravcaled several things that mnst behighly gratifying to grain growers. The first of theoa is that the wheat bus developec remarkably well all over, eo that, with the aid of splendid weather conditions, there will bo very little second quality milling wheat and practically no fowl wheat. Then the oats aro so good that, with yields above the average and high prices available, only-a very small proportion of tho crop will bo cut for chatt unless tho course of the market takcß an unexpected change Tory soon. A fair amount of wheat came forward during tho earlier part of the week, the totter days of which have been devoted to holiday, making in town. There were not any lines of much magnitude, though one of about 800 sacks of Tuscan was included in tho transactions. There were eevoro.l ranging from <00 Backs down to 500 sacks each, with some of smaller dimensions. A noteworthy fact -s that velvet was moro freely offered than during the previous week. , Oats have been offered more freely than of late, but. business in this cereal has been limited owing in part to merchants seeing no outlet at present, and in further part to growers very generally looking for higher prices than possible buyers are prepared to give. That some growers are not very confident that values are going to rise is shown by the fact that they have sold A grade Gartons at 4s 8d and 4s Oct net at country stations. A line of good seed Algerians was acquired at a country station at* 5s net. The dbeksfoot seed market is weak, and sales of indifferent samples have taken placeat lid and Is, while Is Id secured a parcel of better quality, all those transactions being net to growers at oountry stations. The stock market is lifeless. Cattle are just now almost unsaleable, and only particular sorts of sheep find buyers. At this week's regular market sale tho bulk of a fair-sized yarding failed to find buyers, and such sales as were effected wore made at prices that showed a. decline. A good many sheep have been coming here from the south, but the results have been such as to chock the invasion. For the present the only description of sheep that command any attention are good breeding ewes. A line of 500 owes was placed at 295, wnd one of 400 four-tooth at 345, while a lot of good sound-mouthed realised 30s.
