FORESHORE PROTECTION.

TO THE EDITOR. I Siii.r—lf " Lovier-' of; Nature" will-inspect the St. 'Clair beach, now that there have been peveral days of north-east galels, he will see that the sand has not been blown back as he indicated it would., Should we get a weak of calm weather I fully expect it will be. With hoavy gales and heavy seas the sand is oamcd away by tho backwash. With light winds and smooth water, sand is deposited. Given continuous heavy southerly gales, the seas must wash tho sand hills away and destroy tho natural foreshore, and groins will not stop this action. —I am, etc., March 3. Sr. CLAra.
