KUROW NOTES

(Fbom Oca Own Cobbespondekt.) KUROW, March 1,

The Kurow district has just experienced another exceptionally wet spell of woather. It lias come in good time to bring away a Rood autumn growth, a.nd already the hilfi are wearing quite a green aspect. The wet spell has stopped harvesting in the meantime, but farmers do not mind that, as North Otago rarely gets too mnch rain. The thrashing mills are working in the Otekaiko and Otiako districts, but tho mill in Hakataramea Valley has been prevented from starting on account of inability to obtain the necessary supplies of coal, bat the owners hopo to ha able to start soon. A largo number of people from tho towns and elsewhere havo come to this district lately in search of rabbits. An .wrcasing number of toirrists havo been going to Mount Cook and Quoenstown through K'lrow. Many seem to prefer this route to tho Fairlio one. During tho last few weeks a very large amount of stono fruit has been railed from Otiako; the apricot trees navo been especially prolific. Prom what one hears, there is I'kcly to bo a much larger area sown in wheat, in the Hakataramoa and Otiako distriots this year.
