The removal of a large number of natives from the Rand is expected shortly. JOHANNESBURG, February 24. Tho native strike position has greatly improved. Only three mining properties are now idle. Order has been restored, and work has been restarted iu the Village Deep Mine. ENGINEERS' STRIKE ENDED. RSEUMPTION OF ACTIVITY. SYDNEY, February 27. Activity has been resumed on the waterfront, and preparations fr»' sailings are proceeding smoothly. There is a large list of departures for the week-end. MELBOURNE, February 27. . The marine engineers have officially declared the strike off. Members who reported for duty wexe engaged on tho new terms.
