■ «• ;— POWER COMMITTEE MERGED IN EXPANSION. LEAGUE. COMMITTEES APPOINTED. A meeting of city and country members of the Otago Hydro-Electric Power Committee was held, in the City Council Chambers last night. Mt Charles Todd (president of the Otago Expansion League) was in the chair. 'Hie purpose of. the meeting' was to consider the proposals of the Dunedin members for the election of committees to carry out in detail tho work necessary to complete the Power Committee's scheme. The report recommended that in ordi=r to deal promptly, and effectively with tho problem of utilising Otago's potential eourcea of hydro-electric power the committee appointed by the public- meeting of delegates from local bodies and other organisations, held on July 25, bo merged with the Otcgo Expansion League, and become known a& the Hydro-Eleitrie Branch of the League. The funds of this branch however, are to be kept entirely separate' from those of the Otago Expansion League, and statements of revenue and expenditure aro to be submitted periodically to the executive now suggested and to £hc HydroElcctno Branch.
