O————Wednesday, Sepieiibek 10. (Before Mr 11. Y. Widdowson, S.M.) _ Drunkenness.—Joseph Kitto was fined 20s in default three days' imprisonment. ' __ -Misappropriation of Moneys.—Charles Ernest Taylor pleaded guiltv to eight informations of misappropriation of money received by him in terms requiring him to account for it to the Westport Coal Company, rho sums involved were: £1 6s 3d from J. M'Rao, on May 8: 16s 3d from R. Hart, on Juno 14; 14s 3d from W J Wallace, on July 2b; 16s 3d from R Hart on August 4; £1 Is 9d from R. Rodgerson' on August 4; and 14s 3d, 10s 3d, and £1 9=' received from W. J. Wallace. 0 u August 6 21, and 23 respectively.—Chief Detective Bishop prosecuted—Nothing was known against the accused, and both tho Westport Coal Company and his previous employers had given him an excellent character. Mr C. J. L. White, who appeared for the accused, said that he had never been in tiouHo before. His mother and sister had died last November during the influenza epidemic and he had got into debt as a result. Counsel n-ged this and the fact that full restitution had teen made in mitigation of the offence.—The accused -was remanded on all tho charges for seven days for tho probation officer's report.
