GRATUITY TO SOLDIERS

A largely-attended mooting of returned solaiers was held in the Town Hall tonight to discuss the question of war gratuities. The following resolution, moved by Mr A. B. Sievwright, was carried:— That this mooting of returned soldiers 1 of \\ ellington form itself into a deputation to interview, at 5.30 p.m. to-morrow, the Prime Minister, Loader of the Opposition and members of both Houses of Parliament with the mover and Mr J. M'Kenzie as spokesmen, with power to add to their number, to place before them the demand of £150 by way of gratuity for each soldier for two years service out of New Zealand; such sum to be more or less according aa length of service is more or less than two years; every soldipr to be put on equal looting without distinction as to rant; "
