EMPIRE THEATRE
A new programme of pictures was placed before the public at the Empire Theatre yesterday, and it possessed distinctive merits which should make it extremely popular during the currency o! its screening. The film of outstanding interest is a delightful comedy-drama entitled 'In Pursuit of Polly," and when it is mentioned that Miss Billie Burke plays the leading role,, the success of the film -nill be easy to understand. Polly is endowed with a nature of peculiar fickleness, and when three proposals of marriage follow oaxjh other in rapid succession she cannot find it in her heart to reject any of the ardent suitors. When three fiances arrive, with three rings, papa waxes wroth and Polly decides that the matter must be settled by a motor race. Sho successfully evades her pursuers after a number of amusing and exciting incidents, but Cupid's darts are inescapable, and when her car breaks down a lew lover descends upon her in the person of a secret service agent. The remaining scenes in which Polly encounters a \arioty of further adventurer J>Jid finally marries the secret service man are amusingly worked out with plenty of clean wholesome fun. A Burton Holmes "Travelogue" and a new Jester comedy, entitled " Oh, What a Day!" completes the series, which should be popular with both matinee and evening audiences to-day.
