Munro suggested that the most I fitting shape the memorial could take -wouM be to acquire a piece of ground to be set agart as a park where sports couM be carAfter further suggestions it was resolved on the motion of Mr E. J. South, seconded by Mr S. M. M-unro, that those formed into a committee, with power to add to their number, for the Durpose of raising funds to provide for a memorial 2 honour of ex-scholars of tho North-Etot Valley school who had taken part in theair G Calder said that the School Committee had considered a proposal to erect a memorial to their fallen soldiers, and that it should take the form of an entrance arch to the school. He thought, however that the suggestion made by Mr M-unro, that a suitable piece of ground be purchased, was a mach better scheme than that of spending money on stono and mortar The north end of the' valley had no'suitable place Whero children and young peopfe could play. Some time ago he had surrgested that a block of land suitable for such use should bo purchased at Glenroy, but the then School Committee would not entertain the proposal. Hβ hoped the committee would make full inquiries as to whether a suitable area could be obtained. The following were appointed asab-coromit-tee to prepare a scheme for submission to the General Committee: Messrs J Arthur G. Calder O. D Fkmank\ A. E. IS, •T. J* Bardeley- (chairman), and F. H Med lin; secretary, Mr W. H. Steele, the lasi> named to be ei-officio member of all committees.
