ALIEN , LAND OWNERSHIP. PROBABLE AMENDMENT OF LAWPreoa Association—By Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK, April 5. A Washington despatch states that the Japanese Government is considering an amendment to the Alien Land Ownership Law, passed in 1910, but never promulgated. The amendment is to permit foreigners to purchase land in Japan. This •was formerly impossible under the Alien Land Law.—A. and N.Zi Cable. THE KOREAN SITUATION. COMPARED WITH PHILIPPINES. " NEW YORK, April 15. Speaking at Springfield (Illinois), Baron Geto, former Foreign Minister, said Japan is really acting in Korea as the United States acted at Porto Rico and the Philippines, with the object of maintaining peace and order amongst disorderly neighbours. The Ambassador has been recalled to Tokio to confer -with the Government,—A. and N.Z. Cable. .
