ARBITRATION COURT.

UNUSUAL COMPENSATION CASE. UNITED PVESS AS: ; OCIATrON.'

WELLINGTON, February 28. An. unusual compensation case is proceeding before the Arbitration Court. It is said to be the first of tho kind in the dominion. The widow of Frank Walker, compositor, on the Otaki Mail, claimed £500 damages from Frank I. Penn, the proprietor of the MaiL While at his work' Walker met with an accident to his head, which received medical attention. The doctor prescribed rest. Walker, 'who - was formerly a - strong, cheerful man, became quite changed. He was irritable, and complained of-< giddiness. On the third day after the accident he left his bed, and said he was going for a walk'. His body was found in the river three weeks later. A post mortem examination revealed that under the side of the abrasion on the head there was a clot of : blood, which the doctor said was undoubtedly due to the injury he had received, and would account for the peculiar manner of deceased. The court was asked to infer that Walker, while mentally deranged in_ consequence of the injury he had sustained at work, committed suicide, and compensation was claimed accordingly.
