L:eu.tenant-colonel T. Mill. CM.G., lias proceeded to Wellington to take up tho position of officer commanding- Trenthani Hospital, which is to bo the largest military hospital in Now Zealand, comprising l 1000 beds.

Homo papers roport tho death of Mr Cecil Chesterton in a. military hospital at Boulogne, after a sevoro illness consequent upon exposure in tho trench. Mr Chesterton, who was 39 years old, was editor of tho New Witness when ho joined the army in 1916 Ho was a brother of Mr G. K. Chesterton.

Mr G. A. Lee, C.E., late of tho Dunedin and Bluff Barbour Boards, and at present engineer to tho Napier Harbour Board, has resigned that position in order to enter the service of Mr J. Blair Mason, M. Inst. C.ll Mr Leo, who is tho eldest son of the late Mr Robert Lee, will be remembered as a former popular and able assistant engineer of the- Otago Harbour Board under Mr Blair Mason. Ho will take up liis residonco in New Plymouth, whero Mr Blair Mason has harbour and hydraulic works in hand involving an expenditure of a very largo sum. At Miller's Flat on Friday a farowcE social was tendered to tho Rev. Ernest and Mrs Streeto, who will shortly proceed to England. Tho local hall was crowded. Mr Rowans referred to tho esteem in which their guest was held and the good work ho hid performed in the district. Mr Topliam presented the Rev. Mr Streeto with a purse of sovereigns. Tho recipient responded. Supper was dispensed and a varied musical programme was submitted.
