The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held yesterday and attended by Messrs R. A. S. Oantrell (president, in the chair), F. Freeman, T. T. Ritchie, E. F. Duthie, J. A\ Roberts, J. Macandrew, H. M. Driver, J. F. Herbert, A. Johnson, G. R. Ritchie, G. H. MaeEwan, J. Gow, R. A. Ewing, T. Scott, J. Nimmo, Edgax C. Hazlett, and H. O. Campbell. The Grounds Committee reported on work at Tahuna Park, and stated that the experimental plot of lucerne was thriving satisfactorily. It might be of interest to members to learn, now that the -war was over, that the various camps held under the supervision of the Defence authorities at Tahuna Park from the time War was declared. until was signed had occupied the grounds for no less than 33 upon months—for the four years, so that the society could claim to have helped the Defence Department in no small degree, particularly when it was learned that no charge' had been made for the use of the grounds. The grounds were in excellent order, and everything was in readiness for the show to be held next week. —On the motion of Mr T; T. Ritchie the report was adopted, with a recommendation to the General Committee that payment be levied for future fixtures held on the show grounds. Letters of thanks for* expressions of sym- | pathy were received from C number of those who have recently been bereaved • by the influenza epidemic. The Hon. D. H. Gnthrie, Minister of Lands, wrote regretting that he was committed to an , itinerary thai would not permit of his arriving in Dunedin until the evening of the 31st inst. —The letter was received, and it was resolved that a telegram be sent to the Hon. Mr Guthrie respectfully urging him to endeavour to be present at the Summer Show.

The Hon. W. D. S. MaoDbn&ld, Minister of Agriculture, ■wrote thanking the society for inviting him to the show, and stating that he would be glad to be present if possible on the date mentioned.—Received.

Tho Secretary of the Otago Fruit GTowers' Association wrote stating that his association hoped the society would retain the fruit bays at the Winter Show on the same lines as last year, and intimated that his association would do all in its power to make an attractive exhibit and to obtain entries in the fruit section at the show to be held in Dunedin on Juue 3, 4, 5, and 6. The Manager of the Co-operative Fruit Growers of Otago wrote stating that his association would be pleased to do all in its power to assist the fruit display at tho Winter Show.

Mr A. Davidson (Alexandra) giving a summary of useful suggestions in connection with the fruit section at the Winter Show, and also made suggestions in regard to classes and special prizes for export apples. It was resolved to thank Mr Davidson, the letter to be referred to the Winter Show Schedule Revision Committee for consideration and report. The District. Traffic Manager of the New Zealand Railways wrote in connection with the train arrangements Tor the forthcomingshow, and submitted a time-table which, he hoped, would meet all the requirements in connection with the show.—-Recgryed. The Director-general of Agriculture wrote submitting a copy of the report of .,■ the Board of Agriculturo for the year 1917-18. — Received with thanks. '

Accounts amounting to £113 0s 6d were, on the motion of Mr Duthie, seconded by Mr Driver, passed for payment. The date of the Ram and Ewe Fair for 1919 was fixed for Tuesday, March 25, subject to confirmation by the Stock Agents' Association.

It wag resolved that a deputation of Dunedin members of _ wait on the Retailers' Association to ask it to assist the society in its efforts to nrovide an attractive and popular show by dosing their premises at 12 noon on Thursday, the 30th inst.. People's Day of the show. The following new members were proposed and duly elected:—Mr T. Forsyth. Pine Hill; Mr D. G. Wright, Winsl'ow; Messrs Johnson Bros., Outram ; Mr R. J. Anderson, Kanana; Mr? C "Weir, Pukehilu; Mr Allan Gait, West Plains, Southland.
